FAQ
WELCOME!
Whether you are about to attend your very first symphony orchestra concert or are just new to us, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your Capital City Symphony experience.
How do I buy Capital City Symphony tickets?
The easiest way to buy tickets is right here, throughout our events page! Choose the concert you’re interested in and click the “tickets available here” link. You will be redirected to the Atlas Performing Arts Center box office where you can make your secure online purchase. If you have any questions, you can contact the Atlas box office at (202) 399-7993 ext. 2 or boxoffice@atlasarts.org.
What should I wear?
Every day, casual clothes are just fine at our concerts – we want you to be comfortable! On the other hand, going to the Symphony can be a great excuse to dress up for a fun night out!
How early should I arrive?
You’ll probably want to arrive around 30 minutes early for your first concert. This leaves time to park, pick up your tickets, check out the beautiful Atlas Performing Arts Center, and find your seat.
What if I arrive late?
We understand; sometimes life (and parking) gets in the way. Our ushers will show you into the hall at the next suitable break in the program, usually after the first piece or at intermission.
When do I clap?
Clapping is a great way to show your appreciation for the performers. It’s part of what fuels us when we play! If you aren’t sure when to clap, don’t worry – you can easily join in once the applause has begun.
In general, there are two reasons to applaud during a Capital City Symphony concert: to welcome musicians and the conductor on stage, and to show appreciation. The concert will officially begin when the concertmaster, conductor, and soloists if any, enter the stage. This is the first time you applaud and it serves as a greeting to the musicians.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes! As a community orchestra, we are committed to nurturing a love of music in people of all ages. Children are welcome at all of our concerts, and we offer FREE tickets for those aged 16 or younger at our main season shows.
Note that all concertgoers, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
